Social-Impact Books: How to Use Your Book to Make a Difference in the World
With everything going on in the world, it’s hard to know how you can do something to help — and it’s easy to forget that your book might just be your means to making a difference. This presentation will show you how you can partner with causes to create greater good with your book. Wherever you are on your path — book idea, book in progress, or book published — you’ll learn what it takes to make it an agent for change.
    You’ll discover:
The best ways to position your book to be appealing to causes• Techniques to leverage your cause partnership for more sales
    • The ins and outs of cause partnerships and what to avoid
    • Marketing methods that raise awareness and raise funds for your cause and your book
    • Tips for making your book attractive to sponsors
Presented by author, publisher, and previous PWSD president Andrew Chapman, this event is based on his TEDx Talk on social-impact books. It will open your eyes to the many ways you as an author can make a difference in the world — transforming you from author to change-maker. Excellent for indie publishers too!

    About the Speaker

Andrew Chapman is a 33-year publishing professional with more than 300 speaking credits in front of thousands of people across five countries. Following his time leading and building PWSD from 2003-2010, Andrew moved back to his home area near Washington DC and began the journey of his next challenge — promoting the intersection between books and improving the world. He calls this “social-impact publishing.” Learn more and watch his TEDx Talk on the topic at SocialMotionPublishing.com.

The Writers Coffeehouse in San Diego,  a free 3-hour networking session that meets monthly at Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore, facilitated by Jonathan Maberry and The Liars Club. If Jonathan is unable to attend, Peter Clines or Scott Sigler moderate the sessions.

While Jonathan, Peter, and Scott all write horror or thriller genre fiction, the discussions are not limited to a specific genre.

There are no requirements to attend and no fees. Both a Facebook group and a Yahoo group exist that include members from Writers Coffeehouses around the country.

The Facebook group is public. Anyone can join and post. Jonathan encourages sharing information with the group through the Facebook page.

Because Yahoo groups are hard to find, here’s the link to it: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/WritersCoffeehouseOnline/info. It’s a private group that requires approval, so begin with the Subscribe option below.
