On Thursday, March 21, 2019, the San Diego Professional Editors Network program features business attorney Alex Bennett who will examine important principles that every small business owner should know about contracts. He'll build a foundation of basics, like what a contract is, how it's formed, when it's necessary, and then delve into common troublesome clauses, like confidentiality and non-competes. He'll also explore important things that editors might want to include in their agreements and share some negotiation strategies for reaching better contract outcomes.
Alex Bennett is a business attorney with over ten years of experience in the legal industry. He is also a freelance editor and writer and an SD/PEN member. Prior to starting his editing career, Alex formed and administered legal entities for a major Silicon Valley law firm and a renewable energy company in San Francisco. Today his legal practice is focused on working with small businesses, including freelancers.
The cost is free to SD/PEN members and only $10.00 for nonmembers. The evening will include snacks and beverages as well as the opportunity to network before and after the presentation.
RSVP via email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Wednesday, March 20.
