Save the Date! And note the May 20 event described below.
Please place October 23rd on your calendar, as the San Diego Memoir Association and San Diego Writers, Ink would love to have you at the Showcase. Here are the basics of how the San Diego Memoir Showcase works.
What is the Memoir Showcase?
The short answer:
Short Memoir Pieces (monologues) will be acted out on stage by professional actors at North Coast Rep on October 23rd. The SD Memoir Showcase is produced by San Diego Writers, Ink and the San Diego Memoir Association.
The longer answer:
Writers from across San Diego will submit 5-6 page pieces (12 point font, double spaced) during the submission period.
The theme this year is: Where I Come From (writers can interpret the theme in any way that they are inspired)
Approximately 8-10 writers will be selected. These writers will be matched with writing coaches who will help them hone and polish their pieces.
The directors will then receive the polished pieces. The directors will hold auditions and select professional actors and actresses to perform the pieces. Writers will then meet for a roundtable read of their pieces with their selected professional actor/actress and their director. Writers will have the opportunity to hear their pieces read and offer input during a collaborative discussion.
The pieces will be performed on October 23rd at North Coast Repertory.
