The Man Who Learned to Walk in Shoes That Pinch: Contemporary Fables
The Genie Who Had Wishes of His Own: 21st-Century Fables

Speaking and Presentations:
Author of The Genie Who Had Wishes of His Own: 21st-Century Fables and The Man Who Learned to Walk In Shoes That Pinch: Contemporary Fables, Margaret Harmon is a modern fabulist, “an American Aesop.” Ray Bradbury called her fables “Fantastic!”

In Harmon’s illustrated, interactive presentation “What Are YOUR Fables?” we discover the psychological power tools that empower us to be who we want to be—personally, in relationships, and as a society. Harmon reads aloud a short fable that fits the group, and audience members discuss what the fable means to them. Then we figure out why stories of genies and fairy godmothers invariably offer us THREE MAGIC wishes. Why not one? Or seven? And why magic? Those who help figure out receive a magic gold coin.

Harmon’s award-winning fables air on National Public Radio and are taught in college literature and oral interpretation classes. She also wrote and illustrated A Field Guide to North American Birders: A Parody, and over 300 of her short pieces have been published nationally. A former English and French teacher, Harmon has lived with her husband and children in England and France. She has been a member of the San Diego Writers and Editors Guild since 1990.
