February Program: Memoir Writing Techniques and SD Writers Festival Q&A with Marni Freedman

March Meeting: Open Mic Night #1—When SDWEG Members Read Their Work

Because of the popularity of our annual Open Mic Night, the Board voted to hold two Open Mic Nights in 2020. Monday, March 23, Open Mic Night #1, is the first of these.

Here’s your opportunity to come share a fun evening where each reader is allotted 5 minutes to read a selection from their writings—it might be a snippet from a novel, a short story, or poetry—and to receive written feedback from other members and guests.

Important Note: Our meetings will continue to be at our regular meeting location, the San Diego County Health Services Center, 3851 Rosecrans St., San Diego, CA 92110. This is a welcome change from the announcement made at our February meeting.

The roster will be shorter than in the past to accommodate the longer reading time. It isn't yet full, and there is always a chance of a cancellation, so we'll add names to a waiting list once we have enough speakers lined up.  If you would like to sign up or be on the waiting list, please send your request to our Open Mic Coordinator, Laurie Asher at secretary@sdwritersguild.org by Friday, March 13.

This is always the most looked to event of the year.  We’d like to encourage your attendance and to support your fellow writers.

The opportunity to read your work is limited to members. We invite guests to provide feedback to the readers.

Join us on Monday, March 23, for this exciting program. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by a short business meeting at 6:40 p.m. The program will begin at 7 p.m.

Guild members are also invited to take part in a Marketing Support Group which meets at 5:30 p.m. at the same location, in the Harbor Room, across the hall from our usual meeting room. Due to its popularity, we have had to limit the Marketing Support meeting to Guild members.

Visit this page in the future to see what's planned for 2020. If you have suggestions for topics or presenters you would like to see at one of our meetings, contact any of the members of the Board of Directors to let them know.
