A tool for Author-Publishers to improve the quality of their books
The following is from SDWEG member Rick Lakin, who asked that we share it with all Guild members.
This feature first came out on March 12, 2019, but today, I got a notification on my KDP Dashboard that I had quality issues with my first book, Brilliant. Yesterday, I uploaded an update to the eBook and print version and today, I received a notification at the top of the BookShelf that it had quality issues. Two of the three typos it found were legit corrections that I have missed since publication. The third was a word I invented. Nonetheless, this tool improved the quality of my book. I made the changes and uploaded it again today.
Here is a link from The Digital Reader from the launch day that explains the feature. Amazon is known for slow and deliberate feature rollouts so it isn’t surprising that I did not see it for nine months.
Below is a look at the feedback I received on the typos:
In my opinion, Amazon is a very good company to work with as an Author-Publisher. The eBook Quality Dashboard will help all of us who can’t afford a Big Six copy editor.
