Guild Authors and Anthology Showcased at Central Library’s Local Authors Exhibit

By Marcia Buompensiero

Over three hundred local authors and guests attended as San Diego’s Central Library hosted its 53rd Annual Local Authors Exhibit on Friday, January 25. Attendees assembled in the main auditorium to hear keynote speaker, Jean Guerrero, award winning investigative journalist, former foreign correspondent, and author of Crux: A Cross-Border Memoir, which won the PEN/FUSION Emerging Writers Award.

Guerrero hosts the Emmy-award winning KPBS series America’s Wall, and is the Vice President of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists for San Diego and Tijuana. Guerrero spoke on the consequences of upholding the “truth” in journalism, and its connection to the sacred trust shared by all writers to be true to their craft, whether their works are fiction or non-fiction.
