His suspense-thriller novel of industrial espionage, Dark Option (2002), was nominated for a PMA Benjamin Franklin award in the category, Best New Voice-Fiction (2003). He has written two screenplays. "The Bottle Imp" is a deal-with-the-devil story based on Robert Louis Stevenson's 1892 classic tale. Has also written "Dark Option" for the screen, and contributed short stories and essays to all The Guilded Pen anthologies since its first edition in 2012. A registered professional engineer (PE), Gered serves as a Subject Matter Expert for the California engineer licensing Board. In this capacity he performs detailed analyses for the Board's technical advisory unit.
