On Thursday, July 19, 2018, the San Diego Professional Editors Network (SD/PEN) will draw on the hive mind to explore some of the most important issues editors and writers face in a unique program titled “Crowd Mentoring for Editors and Writers.” Anyone at any level of experience as an editor or writer for hire (including newcomers to the field) will have something to gain from—and contribute to—this informal-format meeting.
An open question-and-answer session will give participants an opportunity to ask the pressing and evergreen questions they’ve always wanted to ask a group of editors and writers with a wide range of experience in various specialties (e.g., technical writing and fiction editing) and environments (e.g., freelance and in-house). Among the possible topics to be discussed are
- Marketing successes—how did you land that big job?
- Productivity tips—how do you stay organized and minimize procrastination?
- Social media activity—has been it worth your time?
- Finding work on bid sites—does it pay to play?
- Professional development—how do you keep your skills sharp?
- Resources online and off—where do you go to get the answer?
The cost is free to SD/PEN members and only $10.00 for nonmembers. The evening will include snacks and beverages as well as the opportunity to network before and after the presentation.
RSVP via email to email@example.com no later than Wednesday, July 18.
