Canyon Crest Academy has held a writers' conference for teens for the past eight years. This year's conference, originally scheduled for March, had to be canceled because of the stay-at-home orders. Or so we thought.
Like the organizers of so many other groups, the organizers of Canyon Crest Academy's conference have turned to an online option to recreate the conference for two days, Saturdays, May 23 and 30, from 10 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. Each day will include five sessions.
By moving the conference online, they will be able to include more participants than for an in-person conference. The organizers have extended the invitation to middle school students as well as high school students. One obstacle for previous conferences was the need to transport the students to Canyon Crest Academy. With the online format, the participants will not need transportation to the venue. And out-of-town presenters will not need local accomodations.
Registration for CCA's online 9th Annual Writers' Conference is now open, but limited to students. The Guild supports this event, but it isn't for our members, except for our high school student members.
This conference is a FREE event for high school and middle school students from all over San Diego! Please help share word of this event. Registration is required - please check the CCA Conference website at https://ccawritersconference2020.weebly.com/ for more information.
The San Diego Writers and Editors Guild is a silver level sponsor for the event. SDWEG honorary member Jonathan Maberry will be one of the presenters.
