Who We Are . . .

We are a group of writers and editors dedicated to improving our skills and helping others do the same. Our mission: promote, support and encourage the writing arts for adults and youth.

Founded in 1979 as a non-profit, the Guild is believed to be the oldest writer organization in the region.

Thanks to the founders, since the winter of 1979 the San Diego Writers and Editors Guild has provided a place to relieve the feelings Hemingway expressed when he remarked, "Writing is a lonely occupation.       My apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I get notification of posts to our Contact Us page and that means I’ve not be vigilant at checking out comments left on other pages. To join us, you can start at the “Join the Guild” link in the menu of links at the top of all the pages on our site. Dues are $36 per year. Once you pay the dues, you’ll get a message from the website to invite you to register. That’s the equivalent of filling out the application form. That’s all you need to do. Our next meeting is Monday, October 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the San Diego County Health Services Center at 3851 Rosecrans Ave. You can also wait to join by attending that meeting and completing the application form there.
