The message below came to me as the administrator of the Guild's website, but the suggestions are appropriate for anyone with a blog on a website. So I'm sharing it with you all.
We hope you’re having fun setting up your website just the way you want and exploring your new community!
To help your website come together, we thought we'd share a few tips for getting the most out of WordPress.com:
- Spread the word. Your website's "Publicize" tool lets you easily share new posts to your social networks, helping draw people to your site. Head to the "Sharing" tab of your settings to connect Twitter, Facebook, and more.
- Upload a Gravatar. Your Gravatar is the image that represents you across WordPress.com any time you leave a comment or like a post. Upload one in your Public Profile to give your site a face.
- Do some reading. We collect great sites with a range of voice and subjects at Recommended Blogs. Browse them to find your new favorite read.
- Add images! Photos make your posts and pages pop. When you start publishing, click "Add Media" in your editor to upload images and create beautiful galleries with a few clicks. (Not a whiz with the camera? No worries: here are our favorite sources for great free images.)
