Sisters in Crime Presents Writing Workshop
August 23rd
Mystery writers will learn how to puzzle out their plotlines and how to use the Internet effectively for promotion, research and collaborative writing at the annual Sisters in Crime Mystery Writers Workshop slated for Aug. 23.
Novelist Michelle Scott, author of two mystery series for Berkley Prime Crime, will lead a session on “how to outline a mystery and work through the puzzle, how to give clues and mislead with red herrings.”
“ I'll also talk about development of character and how to make them multi-dimensional. I will cover sub-plot and why it is important and how if the writer plans to write a series that sub-plot (which doesn't have to be a romance) can carry the writer and reader through,” Scott said. If time permits, writers can bring their works in progress and discuss problem areas and issues.
Sisters In Crime webmaven Linda Gail Walters will discuss “Writers and The Internet.” Among the topics will be find writing opportunities in cyberspace. Major emphasis will be placed on using the Internet to promote yourself and your writing to readers, agents and publisher and establish a following even before you have a book contract.
A writer and software engineer with more than 30 years experience in all aspects of software, network and web development, Walters writes for several on-line newspapers and magazines and for the on-line and print quarterly Journal of the American Tarot Association.
The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Joyce Beers Community Center in Hillcrest. Admission is $60 for those registering by Aug. 15, and $80 at the door. Checks can be sent to Sisters in Crime, PO Box 3504, San Diego, CA 92163.

Hello Fellow SD W/E Guild Members:

I am a new member (2008) and would like to invite you all to our
Fall Craft Show on October 9-10-11; held at Hope United
Methodist Church in Rancho Bernardo.

This year we would like to include our local published authors to be
apart of this show, where you can autograph and sell your books!

If you are interested please email me this week and I will send you the
registration forms. You can also share a booth with another author
to keep costs down.

I am currently writing my memoirs and hope to be on Oprah! Yeah!

Thanks kindly,
